Today's Chouteau County SAR consists of 20 motivated, trained volunteers from throughout the county.
These volunteers have varied training and experience from fire departments, emergency medical services, river operations, ice water rescue and embankment rescue. This unit has a number of specialized craft for both land and river searches and recoveries. Additionally, Search and Rescue is responsible for extrication of trapped individuals in farm and vehicle accidents and is very well equipped with modern equipment and training.

Search and Rescue is always interested in gaining new members. We provide training opportunities but also like to gain experienced members too.
If you are interested in joining a "leading edge" group, training with a variety of rescue equipment and serving your community, stop by the Sheriff's office or please contact
Undersheriff Justin Smith at (406) 622-5451
