The Patch Family Christmas Tree
The Patch Family Christmas Tree Law Enforcement Prayer
“When I put on my uniform Lord, please help me be courageous and protective, serving my community. If I should have to risk my life help me to be brave, give me wisdom, give me strength when there are lives to save. Remind me why I wear this badge and to fulfill the call, remind me that You're here with me and watching overall. And when the day is over Lord, most of all I pray, that I will come home to those I love safely every day. Amen.”
The first thing a person does when he or she is in danger or in need of help is dial 9-1-1, this has been instilled in us since we were young. As a dispatcher we answer every call small or big, day or night, someone answers the call. The dispatcher is the first one who speaks to you when you call. The dispatcher then sends out an Officer or a Deputy, no matter what the call is for – from an animal call to an actual serious situation a Law Enforcement Officer shows up. We are the one who send the Officer out to your situation that could cause them to lose their lives. Our Deputies and Officer’s in our community get up every day, show up to do a job not many can or want to do. It is a calling only a certain kind of person can do. Most of our calls are not even law enforcement issues, but our officers handle each situation with respect, courteous, and caring attitudes. This year at Chouteau County Dispatch, I decided to do something special for our Law Enforcement and Dispatchers to honor them for their exemplary dedication to all our communities. Our Sheriff Vern Burdick sent out the request to offices all over Montana, and our fellow brothers and sisters did not disappoint they answered my request. The Patch Family Christmas Tree was born, each patch was crafted into an ornament and placed on the Christmas Tree in our lobby. What better way to honor them than with a Christmas Tree, decorated with their shoulder patches from around Montana. The Evergreen trees maintain their color throughout the year, even in the depths of winter, the Evergreen shows its life, its stamina needed to endure the long cold winters. The same can be said about our Law Enforcement and Dispatchers, they endure it all; even when they are despised, they show up for service to their community.
