The
Montana Military Appreciation Project (MMAP) provides free
"challenge coins" to members of the military who have fought in the
war on terrorism.
Knowing that members of the military collect and value these coins, the organizers have begun to contact local military groups, asking for permission to present the coins at various ceremonies and military gatherings. The goal of the group is to eventually contact every eligible person and see that he or she receives a coin. Also, coins are being provided to family members of servicemen who have died in the war on terror. The challenge coin is presented because Montana citizens recognize that our Montana soldiers have met their challenge.

the front of the coin says "Montana Servicemen" with the Great Seal
of the State of Montana in the center. On the reverse in the center
is an American flag and a soaring eagle carrying the banner "Duty,
Honor, and Courage."
